INEC Shows Obaseki’s Certificate And That Of 13 Other Candidates
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has released to the public, the certificates of all the candidates in the upcoming Edo State governorship election in September.
It was learnt that INEC made this known via its official website.
According to the report gathered, the documents made public by INEC sheds more light on the circumstances surrounding the certificate saga between Edo State governor, Godwin Obaseki, and the All Progressives’ Congress (APC) which eventually resulted in his exit from the party.
Recall that Obaseki left APC after he was not cleared because of inconsistencies in his higher school certificate and National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) certificate.
The seven-member committee observed that the governor’s NYSC certificate bears the name ‘Obasek’ without the final letter ‘i’.
Meanwhile, in the documents made public by INEC, it seems the Governor made moves to rectify the error identified by APC after he left the party.
Among the documents displayed for the Edo governor were two that showed he has moved to cover up any lapses that may occur as a result of his certificate.
The first document, which carried an NYSC letterhead, was a letter signed by Mrs Okonofua K. N. on behalf of the NYSC’s director-general.
