Serie A giants, Inter Milan are interested in keeping Manchester United on-loan player Alexis Sanchez at the club for next season, and may attempt to extend his loan spell by a further year.
Sanchez, 31-year-old Chilean forward made just a few appearances under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, because of the lack of playing time left to join up with Antonio Conte at Inter in Italy.
Inter Milan then agreed a loan deal for sanchez with no option to buy, and on arrival to Italy, sanchez has been struggling for form and with injury in his first season with Inter.
The Chilean chances were further cut short by the postponement of the Serie A season due to the outbreak of the coronavirus, though the club was able to extend his loan deal to cover the remaining games, as fellow Italian side Roma did with their on-loan United defender, Chris Smalling.
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, Man United will have difficulty in finding a permanent destination because of his £400,000-a-week wages and inter Milan are only paying half of his wages.
However, Man United Manager Solskjaer would prefer a permanent move for Sanchez but they may have to accept another loan deal to prevent his return to a team that he does not want to play for, and to ease the financial impact of keeping him on the books indefinitely.
On the other hand, Inter Milan are interested in keeping Sanchez on for a further season according to Sky Italia, perhaps reasoning that despite his big wages, the recent football break may have given him time to recover from his various strains as a result of playing so much football over the past decade, and they would rather choose to carry the burden of half his wages rather than spend a transfer fee on finding a replacement.
Sanchez in not the only Manchester United player in Inter Milan, Romelu Lukaku joined Inter Milan during summer while Ashley young joined them during January transfer.
