RB Leipzig and Germany International, Timo Werner has finally signed for English Premier league Club Chelsea for a Transfer Fee of €50 million.
Timo Werner will will depart from RB Leipzig and the Bundesliga at the end of the season for Frank Lampard’s Chelsea.
After much speculations about his future at Lepizig, Timo Werner has finally decided to depart from the bundesliga club to join EPL side Chelsea.
Werner was linked with Bayern Munich and Liverpool since the beginning of his season, and rumours once had it that Bayern Munich were the once favourites to land the spectacular goal poacher.
However, the 24-year-old striker, who has 89 goals in 220 games for Leipzig in the German Bundesliga, has now reached agreement with Chelsea on personal terms and will arrive at London in July.
Reports have it that, the transfer will cost The Blues about €50 million and Timo Werner will get 170,000 per week in a five-year deal.
Timo Werner is a versatile forward, who is mostly used as one striker in a front two partnership but can also play out wide or as a sole striker up front.
Werner presently has scored 32 goals this season in all competition for RB Leipzig. Although he will remain for the rest of the Bundesliga season, he will not participate in Leipzig’s Champions League campaign. As reported earlier, he will not be able to play for Chelsea in the 2019/20 Champions League either.
This is wonderful signing for Lampard and Chelsea but arguably, a missed opportunity for both Liverpool Head Coach Jurgen Klopp and Bayern Head Coach Hansi Flick.
