As Nigeria cases of covid-19 increase drastically, the different states in Nigeria are increasing their efforts on how to curb the situation. The Lockdown in individual states have shown how serious the government is fighting the corona virus.
In Rivers State, Governor Wike had issue a Temporary lock down of markets and all hotels in a bid to protect citizens. He had also issue the “STAY AT HOME” lockdown of Obio/Akpor LGA and Port Harcourt which was elevated as of May 26, 2020 till further notice.
He had also closed borders and is actively ensuring that everybody follows preventive measures to avert the increase of corona cases in the state.
His decree that the market must remain closed to help curb the situation has been something else for some persons.
Hence, people float his order and make it irrelevant for the market to remain closed. They continue to buy and sell in crowded places.
Yesterday, Soldiers and Police raided Choba general market in Obio/Akpor LGA. The market woman ran helter scatter resulting in the loss of valuable goods as somewhere carried off by these security personnel.
It was reported that Governor wike threatens another lockdown as a result of noncompliance on the part of market sellers.
We should all see reasons to adhere to rules and regulations from the governor related to the current pandemic.
