Asuu Strike Federal Government meets ASUU Today/29/08/2017
The Federal Government and the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU meets today to settle the current strike embarked upon by the university teachers two weeks ago.
The Minister of Labour and Employment, Senator Chris Ngige, invited the Ministers of Education and Finance, Mallam Adamu Adamu and Mrs. Kemi Adeosun respectively, the chairman of National Income Salaries and Wages Commission, Executive Secretary National Universities Commission and the President of the Nigerian Labour Congress, NLC, Comrade Ayuba Wabba to the meeting.
Deputy Director, Press in the Ministry of Labourand Employment, Samuel Olowookere signed a statement in Abuja yesterday which reads: “In furtherance of efforts at resolving the persistent industrial action embarked upon by the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, the Minister of Labour and Employment, Sen. Chris Ngige, will (i.e today) meet with the President and Executive of ASUU tomorrow by noon.

Government delegation at the meeting includes the Minister of Education, Minister of Finance, Chairman National Income Salaries and Wages Commission, Executive Secretary National Universities Commission and the President of the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC.
The minister recalled that ASUU had earlier promised during the last meeting held on Thursday, August 17, 2017, to take the offer of the Federal Government back to its members and get back to the Federal Government within a week.
Senator Chris Ngige pleads with ASUU to believe in the Federal Government as they have demonstrated dedication to addressing the grievances of the Union.
National President of ASUU, Prof. Abiodun Ogunyemi told Joecrack concept on the phone yesterday that the union was still consulting and whatever was the outcome of the meeting would be made known to the public.
Remember: Their was an agreement between Federal Government and The Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU.
