FG Gives Date for Reopening Schools in Nigeria – The Federal Government of Nigeria has given new date for school resumption to enable all prepare ahead. Though, measures on how everything will take place was also given for safe reopening of schools.
This announcement was made on Friday during Press brief meeting updating the public on school reopening.
The Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu made this information known to everyone.
The federal government has ordered the reopening of all schools in Nigeria.
The Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu advised all institutions to obey and adhere to the guidelines for the reopening of schools, earlier announced by the presidential task force.
The Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu said all unity schools should open by October 12 “while states and private schools will determine their own modalities of reopening.”
Many states including Lagos, Oyo, Kano and Enugu, have since announced dates for the reopening of schools in their states.
Remember, how the federal government ordered the closure of tertiary institutions, secondary and primary schools nationwide following the outbreak of coronavirus in the country in March.
According to Kastina State Government, “We are watching the behaviour of the pandemic to see what happens next and we are working with the Federal Government on the reopening of the schools in the country. This is not a decision that any state can unilaterally take on its own.
If we are certain that the children are safe, we will reopen the schools for learning to resume”, Adefisayo said. She added that “After the protocol is completed and health officials assure us that the coast is clear, we will give the schools some days to adjust their premises in accordance with the guidelines on commencement of academic activities”.
This arrangement has proven that Nigerian schools are ready to shake off the dust and continue their academic sessions.
