APC suspends Buhari’s aide, Tinubu’s In-law as crisis worsen

The crisis rocking the All Progressives Congress, APC in Ekiti state has seriously deepened with the recent suspension of 12 party chieftains.

Report has it that the Presidential Adviser, Senator Babafemi Ojudu; son-in-law to Senator Bola Tinubu, Oyetunde Ojo; former governorship aspirant, Dr Wole Oluyede; Ayo Ajibade; Femi Adeleye, Chief Akin Akomolafe; Bamigboye Adegoroye; Olusoga Owoeye; Dele Afolabi; Toyin Oluwasola and Bunmi Ogunleye have all been suspended by the party.

This development was contained in a letter signed by Ekiti state APC Publicity Secretary, Ade Ajayi on Thursday.

The statement read in part that “the suspension is based on the recommendation of the investigative/disciplinary committee inaugurated by the SEC to investigate the disobedience of certain party members to the National Executive Committee (NEC) of 25th of June 2020, which directed members of the party not to institute any court action and to withdraw existing cases in court.”

Reacting to the development, Mr. Ojudu, in a statement to newsmen described the suspension as ‘illegal’. He also accused the Governor of the state, Kayode Fayemi of being behind the development.

Also, other crisis in APC include the recent Edo election as many Nigerians, rightly or wrongly, see Mr Oshiomhole as a major obstacle to stability in APC, even though the party’s crisis appears deep-rooted and beyond the suspended chairman, he is nonetheless a part of the problem.

The case of  Mr Ajimobi, a former governor of Oyo State, who has been very ill and hospitalised, after which the NWC asked the party’s National Vice Chairman (South-South), Hilliard Eta to stand in for him, because he (Eta) is from the same geo-political zone with the suspended national chairman. However a group of APC members from the South-West has come out to disown Mr Ajimobi.

It was claimed that the groups grief is that the position of the APC deputy national chairman (South) is “vacant”, with a pending court case on it and, therefore, Mr Ajimobi was not eligible for the appointment as acting national chairman.
