Arsenal Receives Major Blow as First-Choice Goal Keeper May Be Out for Up to a Year after Horrible Injury

The Gunners First choice Bernd Leno might be out of action for up to a year it is confirmed that he sustained a an injury to his curiciate ligament after a collision with Maupay during their match against Brighton.

The 28-year-old landed uncomfortably after being challenged by Neal Maupay while trying to claim the ball and sustained an injury to his left knee.

Reports have it that Arsenal’s third choice keeper Matt macey is set to exit the club at the end of this season, therefore Arsenal’s summer transfer will be impacted majorly by Leno injury blow.

Gunners long-time keeper, Emiliano Martinez now being the club’s No.1 choice, Arsenal will have to make budgets to signing a backup-level goalkeeper to the Argentina at the very least.

According to Reports, Arsenal’s budget for the summer is already ‘limited’, but now a short to medium term fix in the goalkeeping department is bound to take finances away from other areas of need.

The most difficult part of this situation is that Leno had actually established himself as a fine No.1 for Arsenal, the Germany international is one of few players to have nailed down a sure-fire starting role.

It seems as though Leno knew just how serious the blow was as soon as it happened, going off of his heated reaction when he saw Maupay as he was being stretchered off the pitch.

Martinez has become Arsenal’s second-choice keeper over the last year, and while he looks fairly reliable, he has little first-team experience with the Gunners.
