Chelsea boss Frank Lampard drops Kai Havertz transfer hint after securing Timo Werner deal

Chelsea Manager Frank Lampard has has confirmed that the will not bid for Kai Havertz after ruling out the plan that could have prompted the signing of the Bayer Leverkusen star.

It has been reported that Chelsea will need to sell a key midfielder to create space for Havertz.

France International N’Golo Kante has attracted interest from Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid and there was reports that he will have to be sold to complete the transfer of Kai Havertz

German side, Bayer Leverkusen will not sell Havertz except their £70million price tag is met.

Chelsea’s Boss Frank Lampard has ruled out claims r.egarding N’Golo Kante leaving chelsea hereby destroying the plans of bring Havertz to Stamford Bridge.

“N’Golo is one of the best midfield players in the world,” Lampard said. “He has everything I really want to work with.

“This season has been tough for him because of injuries. It’s nice to see him fresh.

“N’Golo is so important to us as a team. We need him regularly and hopefully we’ll have that now.”

Kante initially refused to return to training when the Premier League announced the season was about to resume.

Chelsea’s midfielder refused to join  his teammates in training because he was concern about the safety of his family due to the COVID-19 outbreak.

Kan feared for his and his family’s safety because of the coronavirus.

But the energetic midfielder has since joined his team-mate and is gearing up for the trip to Aston Villa tomorrow.

“It was genuine,” Lampard said of Kante’s fears. “I was very sympathetic. He wanted to be clear with how it was going to work.

“That’s been sorted out. He’s been training with the group for a while. He’s happy and as fit as anyone else.”

Lampard is hoping to get his transfer business done early this year and has already captured Ajax ace Hakim Ziyech and RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner.

Lampard said: “He is clearly a player we’ve liked. I have followed him for a long time myself, just as a talented player, even before I had this job.

“As a club, clearly we went for him and he will certainly strengthen us in my opinion. He has huge talent, he has had a fantastic season this year but before that as well.

“Where we couldn’t do as much business in the last couple of windows for whatever reasons, it has given us the chance to see some youth have more time in the team but we were very clear that we want to improve, and Timo Werner is a signing we feel will improve us.”
