Victor Giadom can’t act as APC chairman – High Court Explains Why

The struggle for who is to occupy the seat of the All Progressives Congress (APC) is not over yet going by an order of a high court in Rivers on Friday, June 19.

 Granting an order of perpetual injection in a suit filed by Dele Moses, the high court in Port Harcourt presided over by Justice Florence Fiberesima ruled that Victor Giadom has no right to parade himself as a member of the APC’s National Working Committee (NWC),

It  also issued an order restraining the Victor Giadom, the deputy national secretary of the ruling party, from acting in the capacity of the acting national chairman.

The verdict was predicated on the basis that Giadom resigned from his position as a member of the NWC in order to contest the 2019 general election as the deputy governor.

Earlier, it was reported that Abiola Ajimobi, the officially recognised actional national chairman of the APC had taken some starting moves to save the ruling party from sudden disintegration.

Through the deputy vice-chairman (South-South), Hillary Eta, Ajimobi on Wednesday, June 17, reversed the cancellation of the screening committee carried out by Giadom, a self-acclaimed acting national chairman in place of Adams Oshiomhole.

Reacting to Giadom’s earlier move, the APC’s NWC said he was not a member of the committee since his resignation of the position in a bid to contest as Rivers deputy governor in 2019.

During his meeting with security agents on Wednesday, June 17, in preparation for the governorship election in both Edo and Ondo, Professor Mahmood Yakubu, the national chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) insisted that there will be no extension of date for the primaries.
