Plateau State Government has announced that 29 of its health workers has contacted the deadly coronavirus.
This was disclosed by the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Nimkong Lar during a Press Conference at Jos.
the commissioner reported that the state has recently number of confirmed cases has risen to 198, with 114 patients discharge and 5 deaths recorded in the state.
Dr. Lar said that from the updates gotten from the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control , Plateau State has 168 confirmed cases bu the results recently release state that the confirmed cases is now 198.
Dr. Lar also disclosed that the state Government has shutdown a private hospital in the state due to its exposure to two COVID-19 patients who were managed for other health conditions.
“17 staff of the hospital were confirmed with the disease, while all staff of the hospital have been quarantined”.
“We decontaminated the hospital yesterday and have shut it down for the safety of the public.
“The 17 staffs who contacted the disease has been taken to the isolation centres for treatment,’’
In a related development, the state government has also disclosed that the rate at which individuals and organizations breach the guidelines for COVID-19 is too much, following the suspension of the lockdown order by Governor Simon Lalong on June 11.
