RB Leipzig has just three games left in Bundesliga this season – They face Fortuna Dusseldorf at home, at home to Borussia Dortmund and then away to Augsburg on June 27 the final day.
Chelsea will not conclude the EPL schedule until July 27, and then will face German giants Bayern Munich in the second leg of their Champions League last 16 tie in August, after a three goals defeat at home.
Timo Werner, who has scored 31 goals for Leipzig this season, under Fifa rules cannot play for Chelsea until the start of next season.
But with his decision not to be part of RB Leipzig games of after this month ends, he reduces the risk of any injury that could jeopardize the deal – and gives himself more time to rest and prepare for the new campaign with Frank Lampard’s team.
