The coronavirus pandemic had caused people a lot of things and students are also affected Federal Government had made statements regarding the reopening of schools of which people have been commenting on.

It is said that Emeka Nwajiuba, Minister of State for Education, is of the opinion that schools should not be reopened as children could be endangered and that no date has been chosen while responding to a question during the daily briefing by the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 pandemic.

“The president addressed the issue of the opening of the economy gradually. Until we achieve this, we can’t immediately tell you when all the schools will be reopened.”Emeka Nwajiuba allegedly said.

Nigeria’s Minister of State for Education denied that schools will open up on 8th of June.

Emeka Nwajiuba requested parents and guardians to overlook the rumours while speaking on Wednesday 19 at the daily briefing of the Presidential Task Force on the issue of COVID-19.

“June 8 school resumption date report is false,” he claimed.

He added that “It will not be good for us to simply give you a date. There would be opening terms which we will put in place so that children are not endangered.”

Emeka Nwajiuba also expatiated that the West African Examinations Council has not cancelled examination as speculated.

It is also allegedly said that he noted that the exams were postponed indefinitely so that a concrete date would be selected.

According to the Minister, the federal government will adopt a model that will ensure all students don’t return to school at the same time which is to follow a two-shift system and allowing those who will write exams to return much earlier than other students.

So those that will write Waec and other major exams might resume first then when they are through, regular students will resume.

On Monday President Muhammadu Buhari announced that there would be a relaxation of the lockdown in Lagos, Abuja, and Ogun State.

This relaxation is just what we need now.
