Breaking News: Another Deadly Threat In This pandemic (Armed Conflict)-UN Chief.

The number of coronavirus cases in the United States is well over 1.74M and 102K deaths making it cumbersome to handle other trivial issues they arise.

There is more than meets the eyes when it comes to a worldwide pandemic.

The United Nations (UN) has been majorly affected by this coronavirus as we all know but now it is has confirmed that the coronavirus pandemic is posing a “new deadly threat”, as violence and armed conflict arise.

Secretary-General, Antonio Guterres on Wednesday addressed this issue of “new threat”.

UN Security Council was addressed by him through a video conference on the protection of civilians.

“The pandemic is amplifying and exploiting the fragilities of our world”. the UN chief warned.

The UN chief added, “As we meet this day, the COVID-19 pandemic rages are on, resulting in uncontrolled human suffering, additional stress to the health system, our economies not excluding our communities,”.

Guterres regrets that those previously affected by long years of armed conflict are weak, making them most vulnerable.

COVID-19 is not only spreading sickness and death but pushing people into poverty, crime, hunger just to mention a few.

“Protecting the vulnerable is becoming more difficult cause access to services and safety has been hampered as leaders exploit the pandemic,” he noted.

Guterres admonished the national frameworks to strengthen the protection of all civilians in armed conflict and urged the States to review and rethink their approach to urban warfare.

He demanded that “Countries should ensure accountability through strengthening efforts to prevent serious violations of the international law as they make investigation and prosecution of LawBreakers”.

THREAT FROM CHINA?

Another threat is that firms carrying out research on coronavirus have allegedly reported having been targeted by Chinese hackers, therefore, institutions and companies involved in vaccines making, testing and treatments for the coronavirus should take on additional security measures so that sensitive data are protected as they are aware of the potential threat.

In their words, the US Cybersecurity said, “China’s efforts to target these sectors pose a significant threat to our nation’s response to Covid-19,”
