JAMB UTME University Admission cut-off mark is out 2017/2018

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB ) on Tuesday announced the minimum cut-off mark for admissions into universities polytechnics, colleges of education and monotechnics.


The agreement was reached   within Vice Chancellors, Rectors and Provosts of  tertiary  institutions in the country at a collective policy meeting on admissions into universities, polytechnics and other tertiary institutions in Nigeria, in Abuja, on Tuesday.
The guiding principle committee meeting which is holding in Abuja, which  attended by vice- chancellors, reactors and provosts of public universities, polytechnics, colleges of education and monotechnics.
The board of committee also adopted 100 as the minimum cut-off mark for admission into polytechnics.
With this cut-off marks would end the anxiety that has since enveloped candidates who sat for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, (UTME), in preparation for admission this year.
The agreement was reached, that admission into first choice universities should be closed on October 15 while December 15, 2017 was set as the closing date for second choice admission by institutions.
JAMB Registrar, Prof. Is-haq Oloyede , He  called for the adoption of flexible cut-off marks for admission processes by higher institutions in the country.
Prof .Is-haq Oloyede, request that the Senate and academic boards of universities be permitted to agree on their cut-off marks.”
This year, the board has sent candidates who scored 100 and above in their JAMB to the institutions in its flexible admission policy for institutions to determine the suitability of the candidates in compliance with all laid down rules and regulations as determined by the proprietors of the institutions and approved by Senate of the various schools, “the statement had said.
Note : The admission process is now automated with direct involvement of the registrar of JAMB for final approval.
JAMB has agreed to regularize admissions that were done under the table this year. From next year we will not accept again.
He explained that post-UTME was banned because it had become an avenue for corruption.
Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu, however encouraged higher institutions to conduct aptitude tests for candidates seeking admission, that the fee for the test should be N2000.
