It is in charge for providing leadership on global health matters, determining the health research agenda, setting norms and standards, articulating evidence-based policy options, providing technical support to countries and monitoring and assessing health trends.

Objectives of the Programme
- To institute AFP scrutiny for supervising wild poliovirus communication;
- To interrupt wild poliovirus transmission and achieve polio eradication in Nigeria;
- To strengthen routine immunization and reduce fatigue and death from vaccine preventable diseases;
- To acquire swift disease control via supplemental actions e.g. measles SIAs;
- To strengthen integrated disease surveillance and response (IDSR).
Duties
- Institute a reporting network to strengthen AFP surveillance;
- Provide technical support in planning, implementation and supervising of routine immunization behavior to increase coverage;
- Provide technical support in planning and supervising of incorporated disease surveillance and response activities.
- Provide technical support in planning, execution, monitoring and appraisal of supplemental vaccination activities (e.g. polio, measles etc.) to improve quality;-
Required Qualifications
Education:
- Essential: A Degree in Medicine (MBBS, MBChB, MD)
- Desirable: Post graduate degree in Public Health preferably in epidemiology or other related public health fields
Experience:
- Essential: Some years field experience in EPI activities after post graduate qualification in government or non-governmental organizations
- Desirable: Experience in an international organization
Skills:
- The incumbent should have understanding and skills in planning, supervision, monitoring and valuation.

Use of Language Skills

Remuneration
- Remuneration includes a yearly base salary starting at NGN18,590,296 (subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance, as applicable) and 30 days of annual leave.
